Charlotte NC One of Top 10 Places to Launch a Business
October 15th, 2009 categories: Charlotte Real Estate & More

It’s official, CNNMoney.com says that Charlotte, NC is one of the top ten places in the country to launch a business! >> (they’re catapults from Mr Hales Algebra II class by the way… you know – launch, catapult!) And you know what those in the know think this is the best time to launch that business – see what Seth Godin (hint: the article date doesn’t matter) and Gary Vaynerchuk have to say about that – one’s quiet, one loud! Oh and how could I forget my friend and bestselling author Pam Slim who will help you Escape from Cubicle Nation (and what do you know she’s talking about Gary V!)!
So there you have the tools/motivation to get started, I mean really to GO — here’s why Charlotte might just be the perfect place! Charlotte is known as “bank town” but in reality Charlotte has quite a dynamic entrepreneur community:
- BarCamp 2 | the technology (social media) un-conference (this weekend)
- BIG Council | entrepreneurial exchange & innovation think tank
- Everyday Edisons | TV show and inventors haven
- UNCC | Five Ventures business incubator
Those are but a few of the very exciting and somewhat hidden aspects of Charlotte as a burgeoning business incubator environment.

“Today, the area has 1,900 manufacturers, representing industries that range from computer and electronic products to bio-medical facilities.
Charlotte is the second-largest financial center in the country, with more than $2.3 trillion in bank assets, trailing only New York. Seven Fortune 500 companies are headquartered here, and incentives are plentiful for new businesses in town.
Charlotte’s population has grown steadily for the past 20 years, and unemployment is low. Business owners cite a high quality of life in a region that has four distinct seasons…”

Charlotte has been very very good to me! Part of what attracted me to the area was that I wanted to launch a video production business and this seemed like a city that was receptive to entrepreneurs. Two years later and it had proved to be the case. Charlotte, I love you!
Thanks Cristina! We have 2 businesses and would not go anywhere else in the world!
